Blog Blast: More Than a Review

I'm really excited to have Donna Feyen and her amazing blog site visiting my blog today!

Donna is the host of WWW.MORETHANAREVIEW.COM where she reviews tons and tons of books! It's a great resource for checking out those books you've been wondering about and deciding if they are worth the read! Or before you purchase!

A bit about Donna:

Meet The Founder

Donna says that "The best thing about reviewing is meeting authors both in person and online.  I have some great author friends that I would not have met without having More Than a Review.  I love attending book conventions and I am also looking for recommendations on which ones to attend."

A bit about me:
More Than A Review (MTAR) founder, Donna Feyen, is an avid reader, a “stalker” (a.k.a. devoted fan) of popular band Third Day, and loves to scrapbook in both the traditional and digital styles using Creative Memories tools.  She loves Beth Moore bible studies, has worked at the same company for 27+ years, and loves to travel!  Some of her bucket list items include: visiting Hawaii, another trip to Germany (where her husband was born), and riding their motorcycle down interstate 1 in California.  Donna lives in Northwest Arkansas with her husband and her 3 beautiful black labs.
Where did the vision for MTAR come from:
Donna started MTAR after reading several books that fell short of their “traditional” reviews and included more graphic content than she was expecting to read.   These disappointments and the inability to research the content of a book before purchase, led Donna to the purpose and vision behind MTAR.
After discussing her ideas with friends and family, Donna began to develop the science behind creating a website that would provide in-depth book reviews while also including a detailed “grading” system to provide readers upfront knowledge about the content of books they choose to read.
How readers can become involved:
Currently, MTAR allows anyone to write book reviews once they have registered via the MTAR homepage login screen.  Our hopes are that requiring a reviewer to register prior to posting a review will deter individuals who may cause havoc on the site.  Should we miss someone, there is a “report abuse” button that any reviewer may click if they identify someone who is abusing the privilege of posting a book review.
What we do:
  1. MTAR provides a platform for books to be reviewed by overall content and by four specific content categories.
  2. MTAR provides the ability to search for books based on specific content levels and genre.
  3. MTAR also provides book recommendations based on a registered users preferred content level.
In the coming months, we will add author interviews, excerpts from new releases, and a newsletter to provide additional noteworthy information for each genre represented in the titles found on MTAR.
To my amazing prayer warriors:
I believe that God puts people in our lives to help guide and mentor us along the path of life.  The MTAR project has been no different!  Thank you to my sister and my parents for their encouragement and continued support. To my mentor who was there when I was ready to give up and somehow managed to convince this hard-headed girl to enter her idea into a Start Up Cup competition, thank you does not seem nearly enough!  To my great friends who spent the day with me entering in book reviews, I remember that day like it was yesterday and it was what fully jumpstarted me, thank you!
To ALL of my prayer warriors, you can move mountains!!!

Cover Reveal: Eight Birds of Christmas by Tara Mayoros

We are very excited to welcome Author Tara Mayoros to our blog today! She has a brand new Christmas novella coming out soon, but with a cover this fantastic, it deserves a little bit of a celebration today!

First let me introduce you to Tara

As a child, Tara Mayoros moved to Asia with her family where her love of different cultures and travel began. In college she satisfied her wanderlust by moving to China, filling her head with countless stories, and occasionally writing them down.

Years, marriage, children and many adventures later, she picked up her dusty pen and paper (or laptop) and realized that writing took her to different worlds and gave her the experiences that she yearned for. As an author, artist, baker, music teacher, gardner, and nature lover – she sees the beauty in the process, and the miracle, of creation. The Rocky Mountains are her home and they call to her whenever she finds herself in need of inspiration.

Now for a little information about this brand new book coming out...

Each birds carries with it a word and a hope that things will begin to look up.

Hurt from the realization that the rock star life Laidan led had made her selfish, the birds reveal forgotten memories and glimpses into how she can become a better person. It will take confronting her past to make peace with her future. By taking to heart the gifts the birds bring, Laidan begins to realize the true meaning of Christmas and that there are other ways that she can share her song.

Cover Reveal: Cutlass by Ashley Nixon

We are so excited about this new cover!!

Author Ashley Nixon held a launch party about a month ago to show off her new book.
Here is the old cover:

Synopsis: Notorious pirate Barren Reed has one thing on his mind: Revenge against the man who killed his father. So kidnapping his enemy's fiancé seems a perfect plan…until he actually does it.

Larkin Lee is more than a pretty face and fiancé to a powerful man. Her fierce personality is enough to make any pirate want to push her overboard.

But when the King of the Orient comes to Barren with a task—to find the Bloodstone, a powerful gem thought only to exist in legend, Barren sees another opportunity to destroy his enemy. Together, Barren, Larkin and a crew of pirates set off to find the stone, only to discover it caused the death of Barren’s own mother and Larkin’s, too. As his strongest allies turn into his greatest enemies, and the life of the girl he kidnapped becomes more important than he ever dreamed, Barren’s quest for revenge becomes a fight to save the Orient.

Cover Reveal: The Lebrus Stone

We are sooooo excited for this reveal today!
Let's start off with a little about our author.

Miriam is from Cheshire, England and a family of six siblings. Her love for creativity led to acting at her local theatre before being a lead vocalist in rock bands. During those years, she often found solace penning her thoughts and feelings through lyrics or poetry. She chose not to continue singing in 2006, and two years later she woke up with the idea for The Lebrus Stone and began typing. revising and editing it for the next six years. She is now eager to see what readers will think.

To see the latest going on with Miriam Khan:

When Eighteen year old orphan, Crystal Valdez, accepts an invitation to the small town of Blacksville, West Virginia, she’s hopes to have a summer to remember, a chance to get to learn more about her parents, even the family she never knew existed.

But the Lockes begin to act strange and erratic; eerie movements in the night further fuel her very vivid and gruesome nightmares. To complicate her summer further, she becomes attracted to the menacing handsome Cray Locke: her none blood related cousin who seems hell bent on keeping his distance. The only bonus seems to be the Housekeeper and Gardener.

And when a local informs Crystal of the secrets buried at Thorncrest Manor, one consisting of a forbidden love and war between hidden worlds and even witchcraft, she must decide who to trust. Even if it means leaving behind those she has come to love and trust.

Ok here it is!!!!

The cover you have all been waiting for!!!!
